Terms of Service

Last updated: July 14, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Overtone ("we", "us") for the Overtone service: the desktop app, the Max for Live device, and useovertone.com. By creating an account or using Overtone you agree to them.

The service

Overtone is a production mentor that runs alongside Ableton Live: it analyses what you're working on locally and offers advice, powered in part by AI models running on our servers. It requires a Mac, Ableton Live, and Max for Live.

Your account

You need an account to use Overtone. Keep your credentials to yourself; you're responsible for activity under your account. One account per person.

Plans, billing, cancellation

Your music is yours

Overtone claims no rights over your music. Everything you make with Overtone's advice is 100% yours. Overtone's suggestions are advisory — you decide what to apply, and you're responsible for the result.

Acceptable use

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Disclaimers & liability

Overtone is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Advice is generated by AI and can be wrong. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. If a change is material, we'll update this page and the date above; continuing to use Overtone after a change means you accept it.
